Egg Bowl Impressions

Rep Greg Snowden
The cowbell ban is silly. If anyone were really serious about enforcement, cowbell toting fans, easy enough to identify personally in the stands from any telecast, would be fined, or simply banned from future games. That won’t be done, nor should it be, because the rule itself is ridiculous, as the SECs inaction tacitly acknowledges. The bells are loud, for sure, but not as much as the annoying piped-in scoreboard noise so prevalent at todays big time college stadiums, including MSUs. Change the rules to penalize the home team five yards whenever something artificial, whether Dolby or bovine in origin, interferes with the visiting team’s signals, then you would have a meaningful, self-enforcing rule. Otherwise, just let the fans bring their bells and enjoy themselves. If you got ‘em, ring ‘em, I say.

Football and Dixie

Rep Greg Snowden
Dixie is back in the news in Oxford. Similar controversies in the past have been handled within the Ole Miss family after simmering in public a bit. That’s what will happen this time too, I suspect.
